I met Dr. Elif Kus Saillard at the time she was doing her doctoral dissertation. Our conversation in a small corridor in University of Murcia in the context of the 6th European Sociological Association Conference in 2003 has been the starting point of a good collaboration. Qualitative Computing: Diverse Worlds and Research Practices Conference held in Istanbul, Turkey in 2011 is one of the successful outcomes of our efforts to create bridges between diverse cultures and ways of doing qualitative inquiry. I have no doubt in recognize Dr. Kus Saillard as a very enthusiastic colleague and very well trained researcher in qualitative data analysis assisted by computers. She is a key person in Turkey to be introduced to the fascinating world of qualitative computing in social sciences.

Dr. Saillard was incredibly accommodating when it came to scheduling remote, on-line trainings. She provided step-by-step instruction and made the process enjoyable; she is very easy to talk to and work with! Dr. Saillard also has a wealth of knowledge regarding mixed methods research outside of her technical expertise of MAXQDA; this background training of hers came in super handy when trying to determine how I wanted to approach my use of the software based on my project at hand. I couldn’t have asked for a better guide and introduction to MAXQDA!

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Kuş Saillard. She was a guide for my thesis, enlightened me by qualitative reasoning. She was with me step by step during analysis and reporting. I learned qualitative analysis and IPA by this interaction with her. Without her supervision, patience and constant help, this dissertation would not have been possible.
